What’s the best path to become an electrician apprentice in Texas Union, IEC, or private company??
Hi! I just graduated with a degree in Computer Science, but I’m considering switching careers to become an electrician. I have a solid math and physics background and recently got my Texas electrician apprentice license. Now I’m unsure whether I should: Apply to IBEW Local 716 (but their training only starts in the fall) Join IEC (which has open enrollment) Or try to find a licensed master electrician or company to work with independently and accumulate hours toward my journeyman license My long-term goal is to get the 8000 hours needed to become a journeyman. I’d really appreciate any guidance, and I sincerely hope someone out there might be willing to mentor or guide me as I start this journey. Thank you!

I just graduated and don't know my next step, what should I do?
I got a degree in psychology and I am wanting to take a break from school. Eventually I'll go to grad school. I just want more job opportunities now and don't know where to look.

Would it be possible to work towards an Associates and Bachelors at the same time??
Hi, I'm a rising junior interested in becoming an orthodontist and I want to know how much I'll be able to take on once I go to college. I've heard you can get some Associates degrees online, which is something I've recently become interested in. My question is could I get an Associates in Dental Assisting online whilst simultaneously working towards a Bachelors Degree (bio or chem) in person? If not, I'll settle with a Bachelors, but I'm curious if both are attainable as I don't want to spend more time than I have to. Thank you!

Pivoting from Sales to Student Career Coaching - Seeking Advice & Mentorship
Hello Professionals, I'm Sankalp. After 14 years in enterprise sales, I am pivoting to become an independent career coach for students. As I build this new practice through self-study, I have two questions for experienced coaches: 1. What is your single most critical piece of advice—a key concept, tool, or insight—for a successful transition? 2. Would any senior professionals be open to offering mentorship? I am grateful for any guidance you can offer.

Feeling lost! Can I build a remote tech/AI career without experience?
Hi everyone, I’m going through a really difficult period in my life and would be incredibly grateful for some honest advice. I am 34 years old and I recently moved to Japan (Fukuoka), and I’m struggling to find a viable career path. I don’t speak Japanese yet (I’ve started studying it), and I’ve been applying for English or Italian teaching jobs (I'm Italian) just to keep things moving but that’s not my real passion. My background is in commercial HVAC pipefitting, with over 10 years of experience on large construction sites across Australia and New Zealand. Unfortunately, without Japanese language skills, it’s nearly impossible to continue in that field here in Japan. In the past 5-6 months I started studying cybersecurity, using platforms like Coursera and TryHackMe (earning two certificates: Google IT Support and Google Cybersecurity). I was really motivated, but just recently I started to feel discouraged, without hands-on experience or industry connections, it felt like I wouldn’t be able to break into the field. I paused my studies because I was afraid I was wasting time, but deep down I still want to continue. I’ve always been passionate about IT. I’ve had a strong interest in this world for as long as I can remember, and recently I’ve become more and more fascinated by how AI is changing the way we work and solve problems. I love exploring tools and workflows that help automate tasks, improve productivity, and create new opportunities for people like me, without a formal background in the industry. I’m also interested in the creative side of AI, such as image generation (which I occasionally share on socials), but my main goal is to find ways to use AI and IT tools to build a remote career, even starting small. That’s why I’m reaching out here. I’d really appreciate any honest, practical advice on: Is it truly possible to start a remote career in IT, without prior experience or a degree? What learning paths, certifications, or tools are actually worth focusing on? How can someone like me start from scratch and build a sustainable future in IT while managing day-to-day survival? Are there beginner-friendly roles where curiosity, consistency, and self-teaching are enough to open doors? Thank you so much for reading. I’m feeling lost, but still hopeful. Even a bit of direction or encouragement would mean a lot to me right now.

What’s the best way to break into the cybersecurity field as an international student with 9 months of studying cybersecurity experience, 500+ job applications, and an ongoing Security+ certification?
Hi everyone, I’ve been studying cybersecurity for the past 9+ months and actively applying to internships and entry-level roles, with over 500 applications and 250+ LinkedIn connections so far. A few connections helped with referrals, but my resume still gets rejected. Last month, I felt devastated and started doubting myself. But I gathered courage and started preparing for CompTIA Security+ to strengthen my foundation. I’ve optimized my resume for ATS, participated in CTFs, and improved my LinkedIn, but I’m still struggling to land interviews. Can someone please guide me? What is the right approach to land my first cybersecurity internship/job? What specific skills or certifications helped you get your first break? How do I know if I’m "job-ready"? Should I focus on one company or keep applying everywhere? Any tips, encouragement, or actionable steps would mean the world. 🙏 Thank you!

How do I create a completly unique non-profit that helps people who don't have proper access to healthcare?
I'm a high school student passionate about improving access to healthcare, especially for those who lack basic necessities. I'm considering starting a non-profit that creates and distributes care kits containing essential items like period pads, heating pads, Tylenol, and similar products. I plan to collaborate with friends and raise awareness through social media. However, I realize that many people with similar goals might be doing something along the same lines. I want to find a way to make a real impact while taking a slightly different, more creative or underserved approach. What are some meaningful alternatives I could explore that still support healthcare access but stand out a bit more?

How should I proceed in my career now after 20 plus years in medical transcription industry?
I have worked in medical transcription for over 20 years. I am now jobless as the company I worked for lost its clients. I tried switching to other domains, such as business analyst or human resources, but perhaps because of my age or lack of experience, I am unable to land a job. I want to do something on my own, but where do I start?

Which BI tools are in demand in 2025 Planning to learn dbt → Power BI — need advice on the best niche and next steps?
I'm aiming to build a career in Business Intelligence. Given how competitive the job market is right now, I’ve decided to learn dbt and Power BI to strengthen my profile and understand the modern data stack better. I come from a non-technical background with a gap after graduation, but I’ve started learning SQL and want to focus fully on the BI side of things—dashboards, reporting, insights, etc. I'm curious to know: 1. How many BI tools are actively used in the current market? 2. Which BI tools are most valuable to learn in 2025? 3. What niche/role within BI makes sense for someone starting out like me and for professional career in future ? Would love any advice from professionals already working in BI—your suggestions will help me shape a clear roadmap. Thank you!

Can I add unfinished projects in the resume?

I'm currently doing my bachelor of psych, about to go into my honours year and while i'd love to go straight into a masters, cost of living and the postgrad bottleneck are major barriers at the moment. I was wondering what jobs would be smart to do post my honours and before my masters that would allow me to build a bit of capital and also benefit me in gaining profession relevant skills. ? Thank you :)
I currently work in admin/reception with a psych association if that's helpful!

What do you think about AI-powered solutions ?
What I mean by that is like prompting AI to create solutions using the design methodology + references. It seems that I realized I have thought of the same thing but AI got it covered even better + feasible. I feel guilty taking the ideas especially for hackathons or projects.

How to communicate important plans for your life to your manager?
Hi I got this offer from this great company with great pay and really good quota for a SDR role, I will be opening a Italian LLC to work with them. Now the job is fully remote and me being in Italy I wanted to move abroad to study physics and acting. The thing is that during the hiring process I didn’t tell them the fact that I was going to move abroad. After I’ve signed the contract I told my manager that I wanted to move abroad and do acting and he was perfectly fine with it(I didn’t tell him tho that I wanted to go to college). But now while talking with the accountant and communicating this they said there could be some issues with that because of tax regulations, but the guy who interviewed me(the CEO) said that he didn’t know that I wanted to move abroad and that he didn’t know that and he seemed pretty annoyed that I didn’t communicate it sooner(I actually thought I did in my first interview). Now I don’t know how to tell him that I want to move to LA to do acting and physics, and I need the job to pay for my studies. I’ll have to start in September and I’ll do one month of just working. I also have to tell this to my parents and everything is pretty stressful on its own. How do I tell him? Do I tell him that I won a scholarship for this school and If it’s okay for him that I go. He said he didn’t have problems with people going all around the world as long as they could do the job right. Please I am drowning

How Big Is Astronomy in South Africa Really?
Hi, I'm Masego, an 11th grade learner at Mabothe Secondary High School, and I'm super interested in astronomy. I've always been fascinated by science, and I think it all started when I watched documentaries on the Da Vinci channel about famous scientists like Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Einstein, and Isaac Newton. There's something about those stars that truly draws me in - I find the universe mysterious and cool! I'm curious about pursuing a career in astronomy in South Africa. How big of a field is astronomy in South Africa, and would it be challenging to find job opportunities? I've heard some students say they can't find jobs in the field. Are there many organizations or institutions in SA that focus on astronomy, and what kind of roles are available? I'd love to hear from you all in the science field about your experiences and advice.

Do research online programs like Lumiere, Indigo Research, Polygence, etc, really help in getting into better schools?
Hi I just finished my junior year and I'm about to go into my senior year. This summer I have been looking for things to do for college and came across these research opportunities. I recently got accepted into one and I'm really excited about the opportunity of stepping into something different like this, challenging myself. These research programs come with a cost which isn't something very affordable for my family and something my parents' aren't really willing to pay. I'm really enthusiastic about this opportunity, but I want to know if the price is really worth it, if I would be spending my money on something that will positively affect my future: getting into a good college, obtaining scholarships, gaining experience for my career. This is something I'm really considering even if my parents are not really willing to pay for it, I want to know if it's worth it so I can find a way to make it work. I'm open to hearing everyone's honest opinions on the topic, thank you!
