While studying architecture in college has its benefits, it's important to consider if there are other careers or interests you might want to pursue. Architecture demands a lot of time and effort. While students in other majors might finish their work and enjoy free time, architecture students often spend long hours working on designs with little guidance. This can mean missing out on social activities and other adventures.
After completing your degree, finding a job can be challenging. The skills you learn in school might not directly apply to the workplace. Additionally, architecture jobs can be unstable, especially during economic downturns. If the economy is struggling when you graduate, you might have to take unrelated jobs while others with different degrees start their careers and see progress with their careers relatively quickly.
Given the time and dedication architecture requires, you might want to consider careers in law or medicine, which also require licensing but may offer more stability. If you love art and design, a broader liberal arts education could be a good start. Explore fine arts, literature, or graphic arts, and see what interests you. You can always pursue a master's in architecture later if you decide that's your path.
Keep your options open and focus on what makes you happy and fulfilled. As you gain experience and education, your interests might change. You might become more passionate about architecture, or you might find a different path that suits you better.

Hi Chontay,
I truly believe that a career in architecture is incredibly rewarding. You get to design a wide variety of projects, from houses and buildings to bridges and more. Plus, you can explore interior architecture, creating beautiful and trendy living spaces. As an engineer married to an architect, I see how much my wife loves her work. She often describes architecture as creating beauty.
I hope this inspires you in your career journey.
Cheers,
G

Hello Chontay,
If you like sketching, building models and public speaking, then architecture can be an enjoying major. Beyond that there are long days in class critiques, late nights finishing projects, and camaraderie with other students. All these things add up to fun and successful experience.
